It's my mom's birthday today and while she is celebrating in Mumbai I am just missing her. But hey that makes it a very auspicious day for me to create my blog with my first post so Hello World!!
I am not a writer by any stretch of imagination, I remember as a younger person writing essays and autobiographies and quite enjoying it but then technology happened and those skills got lost as I started SMSing and TXTing and MSNing and black-berrying and.... well you get the picture, the words got shorter, the sentences non-existent, the friendships hurried with quick texts and no time for sharing and giving.
I realized I had undergone a change, my mind raced too fast to give me a chance to capture what was happening, I guess channel and internet surfing did a little song and dance with my attention span!
(Here’s an article on how technology is affecting us http://www.geektown.ca/2010/06/the-web-technology-making-us-shallow-and-distracted.html )
Don't get me wrong I love technology but I had forgotten that it was meant to serve me, to give me joy and not to make a slave of me...you know the golden words in life - Moderation and Balance!!
I went through a period of garble detox, the steps are listed below for anyone wanting to follow suit ;)
Step 1 Give up everything all the chats and SMS's even the internet and channel surfing Step 2 Re-introduce all the above but this time exhibit control and restraint
Step 3 Try and garner those long forgotten basic skills the basic simple joy of reading and assimilating of writing and sharing!!
So here I am at Step3 my blog, I am a Daughter, a Sister, a Wife, a Mother, a Feminist, an Individual, at times opinionated, at times confused and I hope to share some on the drama here :)
